Georgina Towler (born. 1993) is a contemporary painter, whose practice is entwined with her exploration and understanding of the landscape. Her work is the result of the intense observation and accumulative consideration of the environments she’s surrounded by.
Through a process of rumination, percolation and abstraction, Georgina uses bold colour and form to investigate these ambiguous rural spaces. Moving back and forth, investigating dichotomies; hard meets soft, light meets dark, abandoned meets resolved…
As a result, her work explores places of in-betweenness; referencing the duality and dynamism to be found in landscape and in life, whilst also capturing the symbiotic relationship between the artist, the painting, and the world around them.
After graduating with a BA in Fine Art from Buckinghamshire New University in 2014, Georgina participated in a post-graduate program lead by artist Danny Rolph for a further couple of years. By 2016, in the search for time and space, she relocated to Somerset and has since exhibited widely across the South West, London, Berlin and Poland. She currently works full time from her studio at ‘East Quay’ in Watchet.
