Ana Bianchi is a contemporary British artist originally trained as a designer in Paris, later studying fine art at Chelsea,
the Byam Shaw and Central St Martin’s in London.
At the start of her career she was making both two and three dimensional works of art. Now confining her work entirely to painting,
in her most recent works Ana handles the texture and form of the landscape with a sculpting hand, almost carving the paint on to the canvas
with a layering of colour and varied brushwork. These paintings are explorations of the cutting and layering of shape and colour in a rural
setting and they combine a rich palette with a tendency to abstraction and painterly brushwork. Her work maintains a delightful equilibrium
between the representational and the subject as abstract inspiration. The simplicity of her still life and figure paintings belie the complex
formal qualities that underpin her work.
